( IT SOUNDS RIDICULOUS BUT I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS PROGRAM FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND I THINK IT REALLY WORKS )
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, you should be able to move up to 10-lb potato bags.
Then try 50-lb potato bags. It may be a struggle at first but if you have been persistant and keep a positive attitude you can do it.
It may take several months, but with hard work you will eventually get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level now.)
After you feel confident at that level, try putting a potato in each bag.

But on a serious note, the Russian pistol shooters would hold a 1000ml bottle filled with water in their shooting hands in the same manner while watching TV for hours. The results have been obvious. This was revealed by their coach to a friend who was a part of our Indian shooting contingent. We can start off with a "PAHUWA" I guess.

Marksman, if they were Ruskies then I'd bet the bottle was 1000 ml of Vodka and not water
Cheers!

Hi Guys,
> No kidding - this really works
> I used to do this with 2 plastic buckets filled with 2 litres of water - later graduated to 5 litres
> 1 litre of water = 1kg, hence 5 litres = 5kgs = 11.25lbs - not only this I used to lower the buckets & raise them for 5 reps.
> Boy 0h Boy - your shoulders get strong - result = holding a 8.5lbs rifle is truly a child's play!
> My take - sports shooter or competition shooter this exercise is a must for steady hoddls & aiming.
> Personally it has benefitted me in consistently getting 1/2" groups at 30ft with my 0.22 AR

Don't forget to keep your biceps strong. Buy a 10lbs dumbbell and do 10 reps 3 set of concentration curl and hammer curl. It'll keep you fit enough to hold most of the rifles you'll ever encounter, excluding the .950JDJ of course
