TRUE STORY FROM. "THE HOUSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER" IN HOUSTON , TEXAS

Last Thursday night around midnight, a woman from Houston , Texas was arrested, jailed, and charged with manslaughter for shooting a man 6 times in the back as he was running away with her purse.

The following Monday morning, the woman was called in front of the arraignment Judge, sworn in, and asked to explain her actions.

The woman replied, "I was standing at the corner bus stop for about 15 minutes, waiting for the bus to take me home after work. I am a waitress at a local cafe. I was there alone, so I had my right hand on my pistol, that was in my purse, that was hung over my left shoulder. All of a sudden I was being spun around hard to my left. As I caught my balance, I saw a man running away from me with my purse. I looked down at my right hand and I saw that my fingers were wrapped tightly around my pistol. The next thing I remember is saying out loud, "No Way Punk! You're not stealing my pay check and tips." I raised my right hand, pointed my pistol at the man running away from me with my purse, and squeezed the trigger of my pistol 6 times!

When asked by the arraignment judge, "Why did you shoot the man 6 times?
The woman replied under oath, "Because, When I pulled the trigger the 7th time, It only went click."
The woman was acquitted of all charges. She was back at work at the cafe the next day!
Now that's Gun Control.... Texas Style

Usually when a story begins with "A true story" it is in fact not one.

Today's Mumbai Mirror has an item (alongwith news about a guy and his girlfriend getting stabbed in Bandra Reclamation) about a chap who had used his gun 5 years back, in the same spot, to save his wife and other ladies from molesters (after warning them, waving the gun about, etc.). He shot one guy, only once, killing him.He is still "out on bail", running from court to court. After 5 years.
in all our dreams ...we will have this freedom.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
:agree:
Till the time the powers-that-be keep sleeping, we shall have only nightmares!

What's a "Make my Day" law?

Just remember guys, shooting another human being is not to be taken lightly. It's usually a last resort when no lesser force will do. We all hope we will never have to make that decision. In most states in the US, you cannot shoot in defense of property, only if your life or someone else's life is in danger.
If you shoot someone here, you will most likely be going to jail, even if temporarily, till they can get you in front of a judge. They will also confiscate your gun/s and you might not see it/them till the trial is over.

"Make my day" is a nickname for the "Castle doctrine" it's derived from the famous catchphrase "Go ahead, make my day" from the 1983 movie Sudden Impact.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_doctrine It means one don't need to retreat from a place legally occupied place such as car, work place, home etc. but some state like Texas has "Stand-your-ground" law meaning one must say "I'll blow ya head clean off punk" or "Say hello to my little friend" before pulling the trigger.
