There's nothing wrong with just doing the airport to airport hops. Flying is fascinating, even for us chairborne pilots.
As for the Combat Flight sims, it's more about the teamwork and comradeship that I experienced. It's no fun doing combat flight sims alone. It's too easy to get picked off without someone to watch your back. If you liked that video, check out some some of his other You Tube work in IL2. Some cool stuff there.
