It looks too big for the average fishing expedition in India. You just got to use common sense and decide if your target fish can open its mouth enough to swallow the hook a little beyond the barb - including the bait. I really don't think a large hook is needed unless you're fishing in the sea or in a reservoir full of 3kg fish size or more.

Have you seen a Sowl (murral) grab a 2 oz plastic frog? the hook is 4/0... weight is not the criteria for mouth opening.

It depends on the typical fish size in the area you are fishing. Just by dangling a large hook, you are not assured of catching a large fish. Success depends more on where you're going to cast your line.

well as a new week is about to start i want to put this to close.

you all saw the pic above and almost all have taken the hook line and sinker.

if you take a closer look at the pic above you would have seen three things at odd with hooks.

how is it fired? Vikram what do you say?

take a closer look at the first pic. look at the hole where the line is tied, look at the centre and at the bend in the hook.

thanks for taking the bait :D

Even if it is used as a 'simple' hook, you could pull up a mermaid or two with that  .
Let me know when, and I'll book a boat for the trip.

no way, you are out, being newly married and all, you should have no time for fishing. ROTFL
