Indians For Guns

I have purchased folding 12 bore single barrel make sakthiman , dwaraka arms store from mumbai. I fired the first round and it is not ejectng hte fire case .

Can anyone give me the address of Saktiman gns factory since i want aprise them about the problem so that we indian can also make good guns like foreginers

1.I am an ardent lover of guns and rifles, I recently saw a folding 12 bore gun manufactured by sakthiman arms factory supplied thorugh dwaraka arms stores. I am attracted to its fine finsh and style. In my family we already have winchestor gun and .315 rilfe. I fired many weapons available in the country being an army officer. I brought this single barrel folding gun from mumbai . It looks very beautiful. Its specialities are :-It can be folded toal length is 36.5 inches and barrel length is 20.5 inches and when it folded condition its length is 21inches.fiber butts and very good finsh which generally finds only in imported guns. It has a japan steel imported barrel that i am not very sure of but its finshing is very good. It proves that we can also make good guns. I brought this just because I fall in love with it style and can be carried like a badminton racket in a cover. My disappointment is, I brought it without checking the weapon by firing. when I fired a round recently it failed to eject the fired case, it may be a small problem with the ejector , which I am sure can be rectified. However why we indian cant ensure the quality like checking the serviceability of the gun before sending it to shops for sale. I would love to inform the company about this problem so that they can take care of these issues in future. But I failed to find a website pertains to this company nor their email address, if any member know please let me know. I will post the picture very soon as some of our memebers asked.

folding guns are the naturally tool for poachers, but I have one to in my safe
is your gun also build so ligth like the inexpensive italian single barrel gun here in europe around. I believe it weigth nothing and that have consequence's, it hits you like a horse when firing

Shaktiman manufactures guns that are some of the worst made in the country.I have not seen their folding shotguns but have seen a couple of their lever action ones.They all have to be repaired after firing a couple of shots.I correct myself,after firing a single shot.Like all shotguns made in India,the internal parts are made from mild steel and dont last very long.The springs are especially prone to 'spring set'.If you fire about a 100 rounds from it,the barrel might come 'off the face'.A fellow who had used a Jammu made gun in a competition(despite being strongly advised not to) got a splinter/gun powder fleck in his eye as a result of this.Nor surprisingly he did not score much before this happened.I have also seen a brand new shotgun,from another popular gun maker from that region, with a burst barrel.Looked like it had been cut open with a tin opener.

As for the finish of the gun 'All that glitters...............'

There's an old Indian made (hammer) single in our village, I think the brand is Pioneer or something... been put to rough use (afield) since the late 60's and besides the ejector needing some repairs every decade or so, it's been doing just fine! Ugly as hell and the trigger pull is nothing to brag about, but points well and shoots well... been one of my luckiest guns thus far... am sure the true cyl choke helps some

Maybe the quality has declined ever since the Indian makes have gotten themselves a protected sellers market...

Having said that, from your experience, can you point out to somewhat better made shotguns in India. I know most of them are not worth buying but are there some better ones among them recognized by brands?

I saw some site which tells what to look for in an Indian shotgun but any pointers in terms of brands would be very valuable for a new shotgun(indian) buyer. Safety first and then looks..

Folding stock, I would assume I have seen that you get shorter versions of stocks..remember your interview on TV showed a dude carrying one with a shorter stock..

I wonder how one could shoot effectively with one of those "sawn off" stocks..

Believe it or not, I have seen an engraved Italian Falco folding shotgun. Someone went to a lot of trouble to embellish one of these things. The difference between a Falco and an Indian gun is that the Falco would work. As Abhijeet points out, with a completely prootected Indian market, Indian gunmakers have gotten lazy and will not bother about quality. I wish they had some competition - the entry of foreign carmakers has spurred Indian automobile companies to great heights....

BTW Ranjeet on this thread is in Germany and if you are interested maybe you gentlemen could meet up sometime. AFter the IFG groups in India and the USA, we would have a group meeting in Germany as well. Would be superb.

You know what Mehul? i thought i had a solution to my home defense gun in this folding 12-ha, i should have known better...
I guess the gun makers need some competition all right, to kick their collective butts back into making bed pans or whatever they were making before they started mangling gardening cans and passing them off as guns.

inexpensive as this italien single shot folding guns are, it possible for everyone here to have on in the safe, you can use it for every work any other gun is to pity.
My own have make all, was also the gun for blowing out fireform loads with homemade adaptors.
will contact Ranjeet with a PM where he is, possible he is 1000 km away and allways in germany.
But I havn't much time now, lot of work ,a million small things to do. I am on the airport on next monday for my fligth to delhi.

Just a thought but I presume that the gun is an ejector ? If it is an extractor it won`t eject the cartridges but will just lift them so that they can be manually removed. Most cheap guns don`t have ejectors.......and I don`t think that I`ve ever seen a folding gun that isn`t cheaply made.
For the gent who wanted to know where the gun folds: Like all folders it folds open from the hinge pin - just like a normal break barrel gun, but it opens a lot further !

Our shotguns can really look nice. My friend inspired by Chilly's performance decide that he wanted to get into the same event. And so he bought this made in Punjab o/u shotgun and in the same day bought some no 4 or something like that. And off we went to the Karni Singh range and there we let some shooters take a look at it. All these guys had were the best competition class shotguns and we turned up with this broom stick. After being met with a lot of friendly and very good natured ribbing one brave soul volunteered to try it out. He loaded only one barrel and broke a clay with it. Much to the cheering of the Perazzi spoiled crowd. Then my friend shot it and then handed it to me. We were just shooting it without the clays...they didn't have any spare ones as their supplies hadn't come in. Anyway firing the light no7 made my shoulder wince. The weight and all were so wrong. We left the range with a great appreciation of the slick Perazzis. Unfortunately, my friend is still stuck with this great wall hanger...I almost forgot it stopped cocking the top barrel after these two shots and so back to the shop it went.
I really agree with those who said that looks are deceiving. When it comes to Desi stuff its better to just save till you can buy a good second hand phirang one.
