Raj: I think you can relax
It's a brass brush and brass is softer than steel
No chance of damaging the bore.
You said "nylon rope", not mono filament, and I suppose you pulled in a straight line. I don't think you have anything to worry about - except maybe a spike in your blood pressure when the brush got stuck
Rest easy.

raj,
its only the brass bristles which will be in contact with the bore and they might not do any damage.remove the bolt and take a look through the bore.
cheers

As long as you pulled in a straight line and ensured that the muzzle (crown) wasn't scraped, you have nothing to worry about. Even if you did scrape the crown, once, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Now go and sleep easy tonight

Cheers!

Raj.. What have you done!!!
Omigod.. the rifle is ruined.. before anyone finds out, you can sell it to me for a couple of thousands
Kidding brother. All is fine I guess, and as Indian suggests, look thru thr bore and satisfy yourself
.. All the best...

Most of the people I know advise to keep the arms with a trusted dealer even if it costs some money. Police people generally handle them bad...

i would prefer a dealer and recommend the same to anybody
there were many cases in AP where bolts, forend grips ,mags and sometimes, the gun itself went missing

Any reason why you would not just keep the bolt and magazine when required to turn in your rifle for "safe keeping"?

yes you can do that.but what about the gun.one of my relative deposited his 22hornet and the they painted his license number on the stock and the same was done to his S&W grips

... Another problem that I heard if, is that they 'paint' some numbers on the rifle, for identification sake... well, if they do that, I am sure a lot of faces would have raised eyebrows when the collect it back
