I have just got myself a Colt .38 (NSP)
It is an old weapon and would appreciate any ideas for its care.

you have got a nice revolver.it have a greenish patinna which you find on parkerised weapons stored for long
time.

Looks like a Colt Army .38 made somewhere around the turn of the last century

1889....precisely.....special order for the US Navy...fought in the spanish american war, WWI , WWII somehow found its way to the LTTE who shot at the Indian Army with it and probably got killed doing that....reached the ordanance depot and now with me....some history.....and still works....

Well, if you read my first post.... it is a NSP weapon. that stands for Non Service Pattern .
So the procedure is : -
You have to be a military officer
Apply to the Army Ordinance
Wait.......for a long time....
and then if you are lucky you will be allotted one whenever available.

Am still serving so do not need a license...the mha is still awaiting clarification with what to do with post 82 defence allottees....once that is clear, shall either get a license or return the weapon to cod before retiring

Congrats my uncle has a same probably not as old, his issues were with hammer/trigger related it would not fire properly with double action. One sometimes had to manually cock the hammer and fire. Have it checked from competent gun smith
