How to mount a scope on IHP 35 (w/o Scope Rails) ?

Hi All,

Reading through the IFG posts renewed my passion of shooting which I want to revive after a very long time ...

I have recently bought an IHP 35 (0.177) and want to mount a scope (Tasco Pronghorn 3-9 x 40 Scope) , (http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/tasc ... pe-reviews) which my friend was kind enough to buy it for me from Walmart.

Since the IHP 35 has no scope rails , could you please direct me to a good gunsmith in NCR region who can mount the scope or guide me on how to do it. I don't have the necessary rings or other accessories , so may have to purchase them too (from where ?)

thanks

Hi gunpowder,
Its good that you already have scope ready for air rifle. Just visit http://target-tune.in and place order for IHP Scope Mount. I too have got scope mount from them. Now I am waiting for scope which our forum member Rijo Joseph have promised me to send scope of Gamo make.

Hi gunpowder,

Hi Brihacharan,

Thanks for the advice, i visited the site http://target-tune.in , the scope rails for IHP is available for Rs 983/- , ( I also read your good comments on that !) , i have one question though ... it requires drilling into the barrel , in order to screw in the rails, although i have a good quality drill , but I am not very comfortable with the idea of drilling into the barrel , can you please explain how it did it ?

thanks

Hi gunpowder,

guys, i have an alternate suggestion, jb weld, http://jbweld.net/index.php. mine was mounted using this. With the spring change i have done to my phorgun, and the loose fit stock, mine is the worst rattler! but the guy holds the rail in place..
Sniper has set this rail to IHP with araldite and his effort was a success too.. some abrasion to the binding surfaces and proper cleaning will ensure a good hold.. its defintely worth a try before you drill the compression chamber..

BOND, GLUE!! This is crazy must be stopped!
You can never trust glue or something similar when there could be a risk of loosing your eyes if the glue fails. Rest your call.

nsudhakar,
got my packs from US. found https://www.woodys-auto-supply.com on quick googling, you can find more stores out there with competitive pricing and shipping rates.

t20 ,
we are talking IHP and Phorgun here, not Premium air rifles in the order of RWS 350/460, you will never see this question for those as they have scope rails default..
and for the mentioned brands, araldite and jb weld definitely suffice, About 4000 psi is the tensile strength of j-b weld, and these airguns for sure will not have the recoil velocity to overcome it. and you can make the bond stronger using alminium filings with weld and preparing the surfaces well.

Also a scope rail or scope detached from these guns during a shoot, dont fly right into your eye, they just drop "down" after a "pop-up", someone who has tried weak bonds will agree with me..
