Somewhere.... I know you are right... and although I have applied for 13 patents thru my company, I have another 1000+ revolutionary ideas in queue.. but you know how it is for us Indians...
.. one single complete patent exercise may take up to $24K!!!
Wish I had that kind of money.. :)

wow.. $24K.. (almost Rs. 12lacs) you should save the money and buy a 0.357 which is put for sale in another thread... remain a lesser mortal, but with a 0.357 for consolation. :-)

Firstly, its pretty much beyond me to even think of getting my own patents...
Next, I am not saving for it either... If that being the case, I have atleast 100 very patentable ideas, and would have to be pretty much rich to get them all patented...

Thanks Dev :)
.. Let me improve on this, and make it more usable before everyone can start making/using something similar :)

Saahil... I guess there are others who have ventured far to get some things in line.. the likes of the guy who tested ammo in 'the box'.. etc... I have tried, and with all the encouragement I have got so far, all I can promise is that I will keep trying better :)
Thanks...

Here is more info.. Another member of IFG (& KSRA), who is a longer standing innovator, tried out this method and had some feedback when we met last.
He mentioned that the rear cross wires were out of focus since they were too close to the eye, and suggested that
1. The entire scope be moved a little further away from the eye, or
2. Add some optics to bring the rear cross wires into focus.

Incidentally (and as per the 100 monkey concept), I was trying out adding some optics to the rear cross wire part, and it did seem to work fine. The problem I faced was that the optics made the X cross wires stand out too loud. I am planning to do a bit of grinding on the added lens itself, and will post more feedback soon :)

Have anyone tried using the glass piece (with very thin cross hair plated on it) found in the Rs.160/- "Russian Night Vision" binoculars (actually chinese made stuff) ? Maybe it will make it easier to make the scope.

Jay.

Thanks for the suggestion Jay :)
I will surely try to get one of these binoculars. By the way, Night Vision at 160! .. Man... must be something. DO they have a photo of the night sky stuck up the lens or what :D

Man you are a " BUJJI " (genius). I don't think the cost of patent is that much. Cause i had plans to apply for one regarding my B.tech project and a relative(chartered accountant) told me that it would cost me Rs 20,000 annually. Patent is given for a period of 20 years. The head office for south India is in Chennai.

If you go through the proper channel, the odds are you will get old and die before you get your patent. So, being wiser and no one to give me a boost at the patent office, i humbly declined...

Your invention is truly remarkable. I hope i can throw in some Extra Fine tuning and improve it. How is the shooting at a moving target???
There are no limits to a man's curious intelligence if he is determined to succeed...

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words S.P.O :)
As far as I know, an U.S.P.T.O patent application will cost about $24000 and may take upto 3 years to get. The local patent, valid only for India can be applied at Chennai or Hyderabad, and, as you rightly said, will cost about INR 20000. The deal is that an Indian patent is applicable for royalty claims in India only.
Anyways... I have not given it any more thought for a long time now, and am getting busy with another more feasible project ;)
It still needs a lot of refinement, and I should probably sit on it sometime. I have not tried the scope on a moving target. Never got a volunteer !
