brass spring guide

Dear Friends...will machined one piece brass spring guides work in IHPs...Im planning to machine one with the hat slide fit on the ID of the chamber and spring not too loose on the guide...

Experts please advise before I fit the following components in the gun

1. Brass spring guide




2. PTFE piston head, hydraulic leather seal and PTFE retaining washer fitted with allen counter sunk screw on piston

The color looks like it is not brass but gunmetal. But why brass and not SS?

For the piston, I think by putting the extra thick retaining washer will decrease swap volume as a result decrease of velocity.

Get the parts polished & Hard Chrome plated to reduce fiction. should take no more than 3 - 4 days.

Also, the inside of the cyllender should be highly polished to a uniform surface. This would ensure no air leakage, more life for the washer, & above all a fiction free movement, consistance shooting & above all, a few more FPS

Thirtha...thanks...I cannot confirm it is pure brass...from colour though, looks like brass...I thought brass offers lesser drag...but if you feel SS will do the job, then I'll get one made soon..as for the retaining washer I'll resize it as per the original fibre one thats about 2.3mm tk...

If you resizing to .50", then Teflon will not take load. PA6 or 66 can be used. Front teflon will not make any difference.

Since you have access to lathe, if you can try remove some material from the middle of the piston in an hourglass pattern.

The idea here is, the piston should not touch the receiver.

Yes Thirtha...the brass spring guide I made is one piece ...Im trying to machine a guide out of stainless steel but it will have a free washer....this will help de torque the spring...also a small top hat near the piston head is on....the grease I will be using on the spring will be of shock resistant nature....and if possible a modification in the air transfer port is on...checking the feasibility of using a reamer to create a conical aperture instead...please let me know what you feel about all this...
