I work for a US MNC into lubricant field. I have used almost all common brands available in India. I have found CRC 556 very good and using it for many years. Its Its imported from Belgium even CRC have a higher end product named Gun Care. CRC 556 comes into 400 ML can with Co2 propellent. The benifit of CO2 propellent is that you get 97% of the product. Price is appox Rs. 200 Per can in retail. Gun Care is applox Rs. 350 Per can

I shoot a lot of muzzleloaders. The post combustion residue of Black Powder is extremely corrosive to the point that the barrel should be cleaned with an alkaline solvent immediately after shooting and the guns need to be even cleaned with hot water & soap. YES it is true. After drying up with a hair dryer, I use WD-40 because of its humidity and water displacing capabilities. But I am a great fan of Ballistol for the overall conservation of my guns. The lock, the internal mechanism is always sprayed with Ballistol to neutralize BP in case it enters the mechanism.
I have never had any rust in any of my guns.
I used the Kleenbore 3 in 1 oil but I find Ballistol to be more effective.
