when you say "adapter", do you mean a chamber calibre change adapter? like a shotgun using an adapter to fire revolver cartridges?

the .22lr is a rimfire and the 22 hornet is a centerfire cartridge. the bolt mechanism of the 22 hornet will have to also be swapped with a bolt that will strike the off center rim of the .22 case.

i am interested if there are adapters for this purpose.

please post findings

thanks

Hi before i got the Hornet i had a 22 Swift,i Had adopters for that which used to take in the 22 LR Round and i could put 4 of those adopters in the magzine there was no problem in Firing or ejection{the only problem was extraction of the spent LR round, was a lill time consuming but was worth it},the adopter has a spring loaded machanism which has a rimfire pin inside and when u fire ,the firing pin of the rifle hits the adopters firing pin, which further strikes the LRs Rim,It wrked perfectly on my 22 Swift. That should ans airvolvers queries? Hi RP you can pick up winchester super X HP 46 Grn Ctgs from Chandigarh if you are this side of the country, otherwise gimme your LOC will find out if you can get them.MOA,hi am looking for adopters which will take the 22 LR Ctg in the 22 hornet. If i dont get them will have them made by my gunsmith 8)

here in south africa, any calibre mods or adapters require licencing, which is, by all means, a load of paperwork etc.

nice to see you guys experimenting with each calibre's versitilities...

i have used adapters in a semi-auto franchi shotgun using .44mag rounds, works very well, but does affect the shotgun smoothbore.

thanks amit357

Very interesting topic, folks. I would be glad to see how the system works and the results in terms of accuracy and reliability.

Having said that, everyone please read the following carefully. The legal dimension of such adopters need to be understood and followed carefully to avoid trouble.

If one does not have a license for a .22lr, that person, even if he/she has a license for another .22 calibre like a .22 Hornet,.22 Swift etc, cannot legally buy or possess .22lr ammunition.

If he/she has another firearm in .22 LR,then this would not pose any problem. In case of the adoption/conversion of a firearm, If the change in the caliber/ammo that it can fire is, permanent, then it would be illegal. The adapter is not illegal if it is something that does not permanently alter the rifle.

So,please exercise caution, good people.Safe shooting. Now, would some one be kind enough to post some pictures of this process? Thank you. :D

Best-
Vikram
