Hi,
I just purchased a few of these.
I find it strange that these have no external markings except over the end itself and brass marking.
Can someone please give some info on this.

I tried 2 of these today. One did not fire the other did but fouled up the barrel a lot.

Funny, come to think of it, the eley cartridges (shotgun) are distinctively printed on their casing with the company name etc. Does anybody here feel, that maybe, these are reloaded or spurious products? Can anyboy throw more light on this?

Hi Sniper these are Eley Kynoch Ctgs which were made way back in the late 60s and early 70s and have been long discontinued by Eley.If you kept them in a Cartridge belt for a cpl of months especially in the monsoon months the printing vanishes, these are normally in 65mm {21/2 inches].Bach in the good old days no one used to buy them as the later model of Eley Kynoch plastic tube were easily availble. They leave a bad residue and stink in the gun because of the poor quality of the powder in them, thats if they fire.Think that u are lucky if yo get a 30% sucess rate from them. The other problem Ctgs in India are Seiler & Beliot the Cardboard tube they are in Green and Red colour and have a Rabbit printed on them. They are also bad cause they tend to hang fire one nearly blew up in my face,so stay away from these.IOF 12 bore ctgs are good specially the plastic tube 1s.

They are an antique! More value retained than fired....
I remember an Uncle who used a batch found in his ancestral home clearance. That was in the late 80s/early 90s... Can't remember... But what I do remember is once fired the barrell would stink like a city sewer...

Sniper,
As the poster above said, I would retain them as souvenirs/collectibles than shoot them.

I would love to collect them. but the problem is that i have a limit of 25 on my license and if i collect then the number of obsolete cartridges will be more

or is there an exempt to the rule on collection

Paper shotshells by and large used paper/ cardboard wadding as well as the paper/ cardboard covering that is roll crimped on top. A large part of the visible fouling would be basically caused by the disintegration of this material... And no, unfortunately there are no exceptions for collecting cartridges. I'd suggest you quickly use up your annual quota, then ask them for a temporary increase, use it up and then apply for another temp increase etc. THEN make a sweet application letter requesting for permanent increase to 250/ 500 or 500/1000 so that you can practice more often, for good measure attach a copy of your membership card and participation certificates (for any competitions you've participated in)...
Cheers!

I managed to see an old Eley Pneumatic cartridge box and it has an image of the internals of the cartridge.
It seems that there is an "air pocket" kind of thing in the wad and this supposedly reduces the recoil and gives a longer range (as per the writings on the box itself). i shall try and get some pics to upload.
