Someone sent me this link www.seasonshot.com

Sounds like a really cool concept... anyone have a clue if this works as advertised?

Cheers!

Sounds like a huge spoof. I`m trying to figure out why, if the process of cooking breaks down the shot, the heat generated when the shot is fired in a barrel doesn`t break it down......perhaps it needs a certain amount of moisture as well ? The amount of seasoning is going to vary dramatically depending on how many shot enter the animal........I`m also trying to work out what nature of material is dense enough to be used as shot yet can be infused with the seasoning and breaks down during cooking.
Interesting.

Well, I was rather hoping it works, as were my molars... have bitten into enough pellets while enjoying an otherwise yummy meal :(

Cheers!

I have known hunters to take the shot out of cartridge and fill it with pearl-millet seeds (bajra) and use to shoot the small 'lava' birds.

When cooked, the millet would just cook and soften adding extra taste to the dish.

Very interesting mundaire.
As a dentist we have a chapter dedicated to "Trauma from Occlusion" (Chronic and Acute). One of the causes of acute trauma from occlusion is biting into pellets when eating game meat/birds. The result may vary from slight pain and senstivity to even fractured teeth. These books have been authored by Doctors from the US and UK.
In India , the only cases of acute trauma from occlusion I have seen are due to "daal me patthar".
A word of caution for the vegetarians as well.

Sounds very much like an elaborate spoof. Their mention of turkey in the Q&A section would indicate that they are not very knowledgeable. The turkey's head is the target. Can't think of any spices, or edible binder, with a specific gravity close to iron. Think we'll have to continue to rub the bird with spices, and watch out for pellets. Or not chew, and swallow every bite whole.

Why not get a metal detector?

Well, Winnie, they do sell a a hand held pellet detector, though I don't know if it actually works. At best it will let you know, it won't pull the pellet out for you. Just as easy to probe for it, if there is an entry wound.
Very much doubt that the conventional "treasure hunting" metal detector would detect a small lead or steel pellet. Seems like a bit of overkill anyhow. Just chew carefully.

How about using iron pellets and an industrial strength magnet to pull them out?
