Scope for Rimfire Rifle

Post by HydNawab » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:55 pm

Hi

I have bought a .22 Winchester bolt action rifle belonging to my grandfather. Its is brand new condition. I have ordered a high grade stock for it from Old Tree Gun Blanks in the US. I wanted advice on a scope which I want to purchase for the same rifle.I am looking to get either a Zeiss or a Swarovski for it. Can anyone please suggest which model do I get.

So now I have 2 shotguns, one handgun and two open NPB rifles. The government order has been passed but is to be signed by the Principal Secretary, Hm Dept., Waiting to find a nice big bore rifle as well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

For the inclusion of NPB rifles. I had applied for two NPB rifles in the Home Department. One as an NRAI member which is a .22 and another as a regular NPB rifle as a civilian. So the Hm Department had called for the police verification report which was positive from the local SHO as well as the DCP. So the order has been typed but has to be signed by the Addl. Sec Home and then the Principal Sec Hm. This might be done after 24th of May.

SO now I hold one NPB pistol as a civilian, two shotguns as a renowned shot shooter, applied for one .22 rifle as an NRAI member and a second NPB rifle as a civilian again. Thats 5 weapons.

Thanks for the clarification. Is not he local licensing authority competent to deal with the matter?

Might be worth your while to inquire about this 3+1 business.Mainly,is it +1 or is the number 'unlimited'?

Well as far as I know, The local DCP can only issue upto 3 weapons and the renowned shots are supposed to apply to the Home Department.

So as a civilian, you can hold 3 weapons
As an NRAI member, an additional .22 rifle
As a renowned shot shooter in one discipline, 2 weapons in the same discipline.

So if you are a shooter in shotgun as well as big bore, you can hold a maximum of 10 weapons. Thats the limit. 3 as a civilian, 1 as an NRAI member, 2 shotguns( Skeek) 2 shotguns(Trap) , 2 rifles( Rimfire or Big Bore).

Please correct me if I am wrong. I know people who have 10 weapons on their licence.

Cheers

How hard was it to get your renowned shot status?

One year of complete dedication, loads of practice and proper training. Not to mention the burning desire to obtain something. Also a little bit of talent is also required.

I'm sure you've put in your fair share of hard work at the range, that's a must, but I was asking more about the paper work process of getting the status. But that's pretty off-topic tho. Apologies.

In my case the inclusion of 2 shotguns, ALL INDIA validity and enhancement to 15000 12g rounds had to be made by the Home Department. The local DCP did not accept my application as the arms clerk stated that the local authority did not have to power to enhance the ammo limit to 15000 and obviously ALL INDIA had to be done by the Principal Sec Hm.

SO I bundled it up into one application to the Hm Dept.

Did you get the enhancement of ammo done by the local authority as well?

MOA, He is talking about 15K 12 bore rounds.Hardly a concern for a Perazzi shotgun.LOL. You need to see the .22 Brnos we used to shoot in NCC.Probably 150K or more through them. You close the bolt hard,it fires. You place your finger on the trigger it fires and most probably the bores shot out.Still, a few of our lads used to shoot one hole groups at 25 metres.  I digress.

Vikram

Am no expert on shotguns. I do know from personal experience that most .22 LR's are next to impossible to wear out. However most centerfire rifles begin loosing accuracy around the 1K mark to 2.5-3K for certain calibers.
Then again accuracy is relative.
Personally I didnt know shotgun barrels were like the .22 even though I do own a couple of shotguns.
