sometime back i saw a torch called brite lite which the owner said he had bought it in the middle east. the amazing thing about the torch was the smallest beam that i ever saw in a torch, even at about 300 feet it threw a beam which was a perfect circle hardly a foot in diameter. It wassaid to be available in india. i googled the name and came up with the results for torch costing from 1300 to 2500. does any body have any knowledge of the torch. feed back, especially on the smallness of the beam would be appreciated. some of the links are given below

Hi Sudhaiob
I have one of these, for some time now. The LEDs conked off, and I have not used it for some years. I thought of ordering one online, but the damn LED costs more to import than the cost of the torch!

But yes, its a wonderful source of light... :)

Hi,

1. These torches are available easily in Bangalore and i have one of them(camlot led). I can vouch for their quality and build. Starts from Rs750 and goes upto about 3000.

The one i have is said to have a range of over 2km, this is one lower than teh best torch available by brightlight.

The battery lasts about 5hours on a full charge.

Tenx If the LED has gone bad, it can be replaced for Rs 190. If you are in Bangalore it is available from SP road, ask for a 3W led, i can solder it into the torch for you if you want.

cheers,
rishu

Yesterday Ebenezer, Striker (Sankar) and myself went out to a shop in spencer's plaza, chennai, where they stock brite lite. Ebenezer bought one for rs. 2900/- after a detailed scrutiny (model priez- with a reported range of 1900 mts). today sent him a sms to ask for a feed back said that it was worth it, however a detailed feed back is awaited. The shop is hello london in spencer plaza chennai.

I too have a Britelite rechargeable LED torch which is about the size of a 3 A cell Geep torch. It is very very bright and the beam is concentrated to about 75 yds and goes on to light an area as far as 150 yds easily. The charge holds for more than a month with no appreciable loss. A friend has a smaller one that is about the size of a 2 AA cell torch. It is also rechargeable and serves hem well in his med practice in looking inside the oral cavity. Full marks. In pure performance it is better than my Maglite of the same size.
