Hi all
I am in US currently and saw a Taurus 941 .22 MAG revolver ( 8 rounds)
I sort of liked it ... but wanted to know if 0.22 MAG is available in India and what cost ?
Also there is a Taurus 94 .22 LR version which has 9 rounds ... as per what i read on this forum , looks like 0.22 LR are the most commonly available ammo ...
Any suggestions on whether I should go for a .22 MAG or LR ?
Thanks
NNP

Dear NNP,
Firstly, welcome to the forum!
I would suggest that you go in for a.22LR rather than a .22 magnum.I had seen ammo in Mumbai but it was expensive.
Do let us know which model you have decided to go in for.
Cheers

NPP,
I though you were thinking of a 0.357 or 0.380... suddenly down to 0.22 ????

.22LR is more easily available in India. If you are planning to get a handgun back from the US, .22 LR is easiest to use, resell, practice

Thanks a lot guys ..
I guess overall .22 LR is best for a beginner like me.
Diskaon .. I did read up on Wikipedia on the calibers and do understand that .357 or .32 would be much more powerful , but also saw some other posts in this forum which indicated that .22 and .32 are the standard easily avaiable sizes ...
Hence taking all that into account , i felt its best for me to stick to the easiest \ standard stuf.
Do you see any major drawbacks ? I guess the range of .22 LR is much lesser than .22 MAG , let alone .357 and .32. IS this the major drawback ? anything else please let me know.
Thanks
NNP

hi NNP
.22LR would be good for a beginner but not correct if you are looking for serious self defense.just to remind you that you cannot sell the firearm brought on a TR.
cheers

I am not sure but given a choice I would stick with .22 LR since they are readily available. Even I was enamored with a .22 mag SW revolver but .22 LR pistol or revolver is a more pragmatic choice.

I dont think 0.22 LR be fired in a gun chambered for a 0.22 Mag .. the dimensions differ (not just the lenght). Had this been possible then 0.22 LR could be the practice ammo and you could have got 50 nos of 0.22 Mags during TR
