The Stinger has a lot more velocity than other .22 cartridges. Primarily due to a slightly longer case, and lighter bullet. It is a great cartridge for shooting varmints (legal here) and squirrels etc (legal here).
However for target shooting I wouldnt reccomend it. You can do a lot better with ammo from Eley or Lapua or even Sk.
All of which I believe can be found in India. However having said that... most .22's have a distinct liking for one particular type of ammo. The only way to find out is to shoot lots of different ammo. However you cant go wrong with Lapua Midas, Match, or even bulk. Ditto for Eley...

No, CCI Stingers are not supposed to be available in India, at least with the dealers. These may be lying with some individuals who've got them into the country under allowable limit of personal baggage rules.

Hi Harvikram_brar
I think the CCI - Mini Magnum is more freely avaliable with the dealers than the Stingers.
I personelly rate the MiniMag to be better as it holds the same charge as the stinger, but the projectile is heavier.
The lightweight projectile of the stinger does not allow accurate shooting, it's fast, but not accurate after 40 - 50 yards

Shamsher accuracy is relative....
Stinger's and MiniMag's will both easily achieve minute of soda can at 100 meters. However if you're looking for serious groups... then neither one is appropriate.

As someone quoted 70 for CCI mini mag. And 140 for hollow points.
Is it worth?

Dear Moa,
A person looking to hit soda cans would use the eleys & the other Match ammo.

Shamsher,
Actually no. The stingers and mini mag's are quite OK for for 1st round hits. Hell you could do that even with the Yellow jacket ammo, as long as you have an adequate zero.
The Ballistics of the various types of ammo are different at those ranges.
Assuming a 100 meter zero using CCI Standard.. the Stingers will hit about 4 inches high. The Mini Mags about 2.5-3 inches .. Lapua Midas about .5 high and Eley Tenex about the same for all practical purposes. This is assuming no cross wind.
Knowing your gun and ammunition is vital.

I have shot both and i feel the mini-mag is more stable as a round. The stinger was a favourite of mine at first but now since my rifle is older min-mags and KF feature more on its diet.

Dear Moa,
Stingers & Mini Mags are ammo for field use.
The velocities are much more than any other - this ammo is designed for punch rather than consistancy.
Many shooters who have used the mini mags have liked it for it knock down power. rather than accuracy.

Shamsher,
Once again...
Know your ballistics... know the rifle.. practise.
You're not going to get sub-MoA with Stinger or Minimag..
Soda can yes.
That is my experience... I only shoot about 5K-7 K rounds of various kinds of .22 lr a year.
Cheers,
MoA
