Can we use BBs for IHP-25?

Friends,

BBs are easily available in all towns while pellets are not.
Is it possible to use BBs in place of pellets in IHP-25/.177??
What are the ill effects on barrel and gun??
Whether accuracy is compromised there?

Regards,
Rahul

Steel BBs will destroy the rifling. It is not advisable to use them in an Air Rifle. A smooth bore is more like it.

You can but the accuracy & power would be piss poor, PLUS over time the (steel) BB's will wear out the rifling in the barrel, permanently ruining the gun.

Steel BB's are meant to be shot from smooth bore airguns only.

Cheers!

Yes Baracho you are right and thats exactly why Abhijeet and I mentioned STEEL specifically. His BBs could be plastic too for all you know 8)
He already got what he was looking for so rest the case.

Brass BB's are the best ones.
I did fire a couple of hundred of em a few yrs ago in a IHP 35 .177

They go through a lot more thing than the slug.
Excellent for tin targets.

accuricy is comparable with the slug/pellet for distances up to 25-30 yrds

Are you sure they were not normal copper coated steel BB's? A lot of BB's these days are steel with copper or zinc coatings...

A BB is .177, a .22 round shot would be AAA or rather AAAA,also OOOB buckshot.

Air rifles like IHP 25 or 35 are designed for Diablo type pellets only.

BBs or round pellets can be fired and will have deeper penetration but a short range and less accuracy.

If the pellet is lead only it is ok for an emergency. But steel or copper coated BBs are for special grades of smoothbore air rifles say like the Umarex Walther PPK.

Use of Steel Bbs or copper jacketed BBs may ruin the grooving of the air rifle as already pointed out by Abhijeet.

Dear Shahid
The very frankly, the IHP's are designed for nothing!!

The IHP's were in the market, when, in our country, only crude pellets were avaliable.

Even a brass coated BB will not damage a barrel for at leat 50 thousand rounds

Believe me - try it, before you say it again.

& an IHP does not last longer than a 100 thousand pellets.

Show me 1 IHP having shot more than 100 th. pellets & still going strong.
