MAGNA ammo?

i recently learnt of 'meghna' brand ammo available in india it is cheaper than astram and costs more than kf special.

i also learnt that kf has stopped production of cartridges and they sub contract them or something. this is the reason one can only get no1 shot in the market right now and no 6 is becoming rare so is no4.
can someone confirm and also tell me a bit about meghna brand?

........the brand name is MAGNA not meghna ...its made by the Ammunition Factory, Kirkee. Its a plastic shot shell in 70 mm . The shot sizes available are No.1 ,2,4 & 6 . In case you wish to buy No 4 or 6 u have to place an order ....it would be made specially for u. Incidentally you does not mean a customer but a Dealer who buys the ammo from the factory.

I wonder,What's the purpose behind manufacturing no.1 shells when all know it'll be used on all game animals. The dealers ask for these shells only because they sell well as a substitute to sg, lg and buckshots. Deviating slightly from the topic, I'd also like to add that I have often seen rifled slugs (Indian made) sold freely in the market and heard people rave about its results on certain game animals. As from what I have been reading in this forum and assuming it to be true, all shot shells with ( 5mm dia. pellet and above) are banned items not to be imported, possessed or sold. Then,Why is Indian Govt. manufacturing and releasing this ammo to the public? IMHO, KF and others should only be allowed to make nos. 6,7,8 and 9 for trap and skeet shooters and improve on its patterning quality.

Multi projectile ammo such as LG,SG,Buckshot is banned, however Slugs and hollow points are allowed.

In India Shaktiman makes slugs and hollow points, extremely lethal.

I seem to have heard this before somewhere on this forum. If it is illegal, shouldnt gun manufacturers be banned from manufacturing them?? Here in Mizoram one can get bird shot buck shot or any nos. of 12 bore ammunition. All manufactured by bonafide Indian manufacturers

Jonah,

Multi projectile ammo in buckshot sizes (SSG, SG, LG etc.) is banned... birdshot ammo no. 9 (smallest) up to BB size (largest) is perfectly legal...

Cheers!

Gentlemen here is the loas and lst from IOF.

KF Special - 30.1 grams.
Astram - 32 Grams
Astram Magna - 34 Grams. In paper and plastic shells.

Shot size available usually 1 only. I do have Astram in 4 and 6 and Special in 4,6 and 7 as well but stocks are dwindling.

Best cartridge ever till date - Astram No. 3.

Through a dealer in Patna we ordered a few cartons of Special 4,6,7 and Astram 3,4 and 6.

Answer from Khadki ( on the phone ) - Nawabi India mein Khatam ho gaai aap log Ho gai, aap log ki Bihar mein Nawabi chal hi rahin hai ? Nahin milega sirf No 1 milega.

But I know no 4,6 and smaller shot is supplied to other markets on an ad hoc basis.

Meghna and Sundari are extremely high quality world class cartridges made in Nepal. They often find their way in the grey market in border towns.

Leave alone fire, have actually never seen them.

For shells that are just 60 & 65 mm they are a pretty heavy load 34 g,should pack a good punch.

Are they available in Delhi or any where close.

Thanks

They are 70 mm cartridges, suitable to be fired in 2 3/4 inch chambers only.

Earlier in 1995 to 1997 phase it came in paper cases. Now it has a plastic case, introduced in our parts ( Bihar ) last year.

...well if I heard thing correctly(Right Abhijeet? :) ) production of these might hit a hiccup because of IOF's self defeating policies!
