c.£699 in the UK - and I can`t get any sort of deal which is the one thing putting me off.
I reckon that`s too much money for a Sightron.

That hurts.IF you import it,would any import duty be levied ? Is there some exemption on import for personal use?

Ha ! Price plus shipping costs plus import duty plus VAT @ 20% on the the first three totalled. It rarely makes sense to import stuff.

That is even more f****d up system of calculating tax than the Indian one. Here it is normally 30% of Cost+Freight+Insurance.

Still you can walk into a shop and buy shooting and outdoors related stuff . In India you have to rely on friends and relatives to get you even small things and then you keep your fingers crossed till it is in your hands. I have been blessed that ways in having friends who have helped out when I have imposed on them, but not every one is.

How about buying one of those Chinese made Zeiss riflescopes

Something I find very strange is that we can import any scope but can`t export scopes that exceed 4x magnification......
Chinese Zeiss now eh ? I`ve seen Chinese Bushnells that are nothing to to with Bushnell......and have heard of Chinese Minox ditto ...... and another Chinese made pretend range. Forgery seems almost a way of life in China.

Oh good grief ! First the American made Conquests, then the `budget` ( and brown ) Duralyts and now the Chinese made Terra. Zeiss need to be very careful as they are going to lose their reputation for excellence ..... Something that I think is already happening thinking about the matter.

Wow that's kind of overpriced for a Sightron scope.
It's $799 here in the US and even that is overpriced, IMO.

It seems that the early Terras might have been American made .... but I`m none too sure of that. I can`t find any review of the Terra 3X range but saw on another forum someone who reckoned they`d spoken to a Zeiss rep in the US who stated that they were assembled in Japan. Judging by the price range that might be possible ..... but $399 for a Japanese scope is cheap nowadays ..... and these are cheap Zeiss scopes ......
It`s almost comforting to look at the main Zeiss website and see that neither the Conquest or Terra 3X ranges exist. They`re obviously both intended for the US market.
As an aside, I still wish the Duralyts weren`t brown ......... ( Don`t tell me they`re `bronze` because bronze is brown ! )
