Best Gun Oil Spray

Hello to all my dear IFG users ,

Can Anybody suggest me the best Gun Oil Spray . ??

MIght be easier to help if you tell us which gun you want to use the spray on

Do not spray oil directly on a gun. Put the oil on a lint free rag or cloth and then apply the oil to the metal.

I use Balistol primarily but there are other good gun oils as well.

Do not forget my favorite- Automatic Transmission Fluid for cars.

Any more, instead of focusing on which oil protects better I just use whatever is handy and make it a point to oil guns once or twice a month, or more if I think of it.

Why the advice against not spraying oil directly on a fire arm?
It defeats the whole purposemof a spray. Why not just use oil instead if you have to apply it using a rag?

AB, gun parts, depending on their function, are either greased or oiled. The two should ideally not mix. Also, each part must be oiled or greased appropriately. Over oiling or greasing will not make the mechanism slicker. Infact, in a dusty or dirty environment, the dust/muck can stick to surplus oil and cause a slurry/sludge that is detrimental to the proper functioning of the firearm / machine over time. Eventually, this will also happen to a correctly lubricated firearm that is not stripped, cleaned and re-lubed at the correct intervals or due to unforseen circumstances - getting wet, falling on mud or sand, etc.

When you spray, you are forcing oil under pressure to certain mechanical parts or introducing oil to parts that should only be kept greased.

One last thing.... most people fail to clean the dirt or dust, with a clean rag or tissue paper, before oiling. This is wrong because you have now created a sludge which will affect the internal parts or begin to scratch the external finish. It wont be noticeable at first but if you lubricate without cleaning away the dirt and old lube, the parts will wear away relatively faster.

I respect your opinion, but how do you get oil into those difficult to get spots, like the spaces between the ventilated side ribs?
Or getting the oil in all the tight corners on an action/receiver?
Oil is very useful for all the right reasons, but i firmly believe sprays have their place on a shelf as well

Just thread an oily patch through the ribs or dip a tooth brush in oil. Be careful with the latter because it will splatter oil on walls and clothes. Ear buds, an oily patch on a tooth pick or appropriately sizes bore mops will take care of tight corners. Remember, you have to clean or blow away the dust/muck before you oil. Spraying oil isn't going to do that.

Sprays do have their place, especially in an emergency, but I will not recommend them as the primary way of lubricating and protecting a firearm.

Well, the way i use them is to use a brush to remove the dirt away, or use a piece of chindi.
Then i use ballistol spray. I use adequate ventilation and keep towels on the work bench.
I have oil, but i rarely use it.
The rest of what you mentioned; ear buds etc are used in all the right places

Other than the spray, we are using the same method.

Since you are not a Bawaji you are not expected to be anal about maintenance.
