Have fun.
You will find that you will only use two dots below centre at the most and probably one above centre for a very close shot (5 to 10 yards).
You will have to work out for yourself which dot corressponds to what range.

And I still detest `em. All that junk cluttering-up the viewfinder.

Don't go pi55ing on his bonfire. It's his first scope.

( It`s OK if it`s his first scope - everyone`s allowed one mistake ! )

I was the one to choose it but don't blame me. He was in Silas Marner mode. Not my fault.
If we continue like this both of us will be pi55ing away our chances on this board.

Silas Marner was a positive spendthrift and don't let anyone tell you any different!
Grumps, Vikram & Rusty have actually pulled off what I thought would have been impossible! Gotten me a whole set of goodies on a very tight budget!
Frankly, not too worried about the finer points of scopes as of now... Maybe by next year I'd have learnt a bit more about them first hand to begin to half comprehend what I missed out here...

So which scope did you get......and why ?
I`m a bit of a Scrooge myself when it comes to scopes and now refuse to pay the ridiculous prices asked for top quality scopes - as much as anything because the premium you pay isn`t reflected in a commensurate increase in quality.

The scope in question is a Tasco varmint 2.5-10x42, mil-dot with px adjustment (err... I don't really know what px adjustment is)
Why? I know less than nothing about scopes and within my measly budget Mack The Knife narrowed down on a couple of scopes that could serve on a spring piston air-rifle, this was one of them and it came up for sale at a decent price.
Mack The Knife did point out to me that for some reason scopes retail cheaper in the US - I checked out some sites there and he's right, the price difference between US and UK is very evident... wonder if it's simply the high VAT rate in the UK that's the culprit...
Cheers!
