I am totally new to firearms and am need for lead shots for non firearm purposes. I hope I'll be helped.

I'd be interested to know if lead shots are available commonly at gun stores in India/Delhi. I need shots with diameter 13-17 cm i.e TriBall(buck) or ~0.58 cal muzzle loader shots.

Thanks.

Reloading is officially prohibited in India, as such it would be difficult to procure these for yourself. Moreover even buckshot cartridges in 12 ga. are prohibited, both for manufacture, import or for sale. On the other hand, in some interior parts of the country gunpowder is available with dealers for use in muzzle loaders and is sold by the kilo. I presume the prices would be around Rs.50/- per kilo.

Care to tell us what you require these for? Maybe some alternative could be looked into.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid I'll keep the purpose discreet. One question however: by gunpowder, do you mean smokeless powder or the good old black powder?

Thanks.

BTW, don't casually mess with Blackpowder, even static shock can make it go kaboom!

Dear friends, @ 50-70 a kg for black gun powder these rates were long back at present its around. 450-800 per kg and if moistured it is useless, so think twice before going for it. Regards. Ajay

Doesn't there seem to be a bit too much stress on black powder in the above posts? I mean seriously, I never said I needed black powder.

And no, it doesn't go off that easily with static shock, unless of course you set up a Van De Graff, Tesla coil and/or some large capacitors(still, messing around is a big NO).

PS I am really a total newbie at firearms, can't say about other topics.

Welcome to IFG maxpayne - hope you have an enjoyable stay here!

Why not try casting your own lead balls, to your specifications - make your own mold and you should be well on your way? This way - you wont have to share the end use either! :D

Here is a video link on 'how to':

Lead shot can be and is used for many purposes, most of these applications have nothing to do with firearms or ammunition. Which is why possession of up to 2 kilos of lead shot does not require any sort of arms license and is not treated as ammunition etc.

Best bet, order an appropriate mould online and cast your own.

HTH

Cheers!

Moulding isn't tough with lead but I needed antimony hardened lead shots(3-8% Sb), the common standard. I have access to pure lead, but not antimony, so alloying and moulding is ruled out.

Brass bobs are an alternative for lead shots so I guess it doesn't turn out to be worth the trouble to find dealers in Rajasthan.

I really got my answer in the first reply.

Thanks.

Seems strange that you are leading fellow IFG'ians on a wild goose chase here. It is indeed sad, MAX PAIN!
