http://www.opticsplanet.net/millett-6-2 ... 81005.html
take for example this scope
Magnification: 6-25x 6x is starting magnification you cant get less then 6x; 25x will be maximum magnification available.
for example if starting magnification 9x that can be a problem if you need to make close range shot 5-10 meters, because bigger magnification less filed of vision on close distance.
Objective Diameter: 56mm (bigger diameter better light transmit ion.)
Eye Relief: 3"+ (longer eye relief easier long time observation. in most scopes bigger magnification less eye relief. only in zeiss as far as I know eye relief constant. big plus to zeiss scopes.
Tube Diameter: 35mm (big and very unusual diameter, more clicks on elevation for long distance shots, more light too)
there is a lot more to learn about scopes, but before you really will understand what kind of scope you need, you may need some experience and why not to try to shoot with some inexpensive $60-70 scope in fixed magnification like 6x. best way to start imo
