NRAI was selling IOF made 16 gauge shotshells till just a few months ago... want me to check with them? Of course the purchaser would have to be a NRAI member for them to sell to him/ her...
Cheers!

Even if he had a 16 gauge shotgun on his licence, I don't think it would be legal for him to give you the rounds and I think you already know that.

Rusty is right on both counts!
a) I do not have a 16 gauge license... hence cannot buy 16 gauge shells!
b) Even if I could, I could not legally "give" them to anyone else without written permission from the concerned authorities!
I can just check with NRAI and let you know if they have it in stock or not... that's it I guess...
What can I say, it's the law... shit happens!
Cheers!

For a licensee to sell ammunition to a dealer or another licensee,he/she has to give a 45 days notice of the sale to the licensing authority or the nearest Police station. The notice has to give the details of the person the ammunition would be sold to.Aftre the expiry of these 45 days, the licensee can sell the ammunition but will have to intimate the licensing authority of this sale and get an entry in his license to this effect. The purchaser,if he/she is a licensee and not a dealer, will have to get the transfer of ammunition entered on his/her license from the licensing authority at the earliest .The relevant section of the Arms Act is Sec.5,sub sec. 2 Clause a & b.
