I was visiting some family friends this week and talk got around to some unusual ammo for the .30-06 Springfield. Two sets of cartridges were shown to me which I could not place or identify the manufacturers. The first one is I am presuming that this is manufactured by Sellior & Bellot, altough their stamp reads S&B not SBP. However, the stylised 'O' could be the same. Also please note the numbers stamped on the case.

The second one is
The headstamp reads ' 5 2 T W'. The bullet weight is unknown but seems to be a FMJ.

Precision Delta Year of manufacture is 1958.

Sellier and bellot Prague 62 or 86 Manufactirng

Saw another set of cartridges with a dealer yesterday. The following is the headstamp "PKB .30 67" around the primer cap. To be sure I measured the cartridge case with a caliper, it's 63mm. The bullet is FMJ, probably 220 gr. I have compaired it with a S&B 180 gr. FMJ cartridge alongside.

Can anyone identify the manufacturer? I'm afraid the photographs aren't too clear.

did not S&B outsource production to Mexico while back?

Magtech? Thats a S&B group company. But these seem to be older.

Olly, assuming that I use the chart provided by you through the link, these could be Polish or Yugoslav. The closest marking in the chart are 'PK' and 'PKI' while the actual headstamp reads 'PKB'. The other markings, being .30 and 67 could be the calibre and year of manufacture. Most likely, these were manufactured for the civil market and I presume that they might have been for export during the communist days.

The deviation in the last alphabet, namely B, could denote a particular factory. This is my own assumption.

Katana: Probably Yugoslav, judging by the head stamp. Incidentally, no military load with a pointed bullet is going to weigh 220 grains. The 220 grain roundnose bullet was loaded in the .30-03. Military loadings for the .30-06 are with a 150 grain bullet for ball, to 173 grain for AP. "SUPERSPEED" is a Winchester trademark. Magtech part of S&B???

The photo's are not of your collection of ammo. obviously.The cartridges are not shinny enough

TwoRivers: The 220 grain load was my own assumption and may be flawed. The bullet (at least the external part) is way longer than most I have seen in similar cartridges. If it is a 150 grain bullet then either there might be a greater charge in the cartridge or greater space for it to burn in order to propel the bullet.

Yes, Magtech is basically S&B manufacture, just a different brand name .

Katana: Magtech is Brazilian, S&B is Czech. You have any timeline as to when S&B bought Magtech?
