Yaj,

I have seen plastic cases for pistols but have not seen any hard rifle cases. The best bet would be to get a case made of plywood or hardwood.Any carpenter would be able to make it for you.You can get the interiors lined from a person who upholsters sofas.Use high density foam for the padding. For inspiration you can check out the drawing of a case Mack The Knife had posted.Has provision for everything that you might need(you can add a bar if you so like). You would need to have biceps like Popeye's to lift it though.

I have been pondering getting an aluminium case made, but I just want to check if I can get a ready made one and save the trouble. As for lifting the case :) that shouldn't be a problem, built more like Bluto than Popeye
Badshah i would be grateful if you could give me the contact info on the shop in Pune.

Yaj,

That case of mine that penpusher was refering to was wrongly designed.

You have many options. Some of them are as follows:

1) Order a Doskosport/Gun Guard, Pelikan, etc. case from the U.S..

2) Order one from www.airgunbuyer.com They can probably get you one that does not feature on their website as well, provided there is a istributor for that brand in the U.K.. However, compare prices as U.K. is usually more expensive than the U.S..

3) Order directly from Anshutz AHG or Gehmann
http://ahg.anschuetz-sport.com/english. ... topicID=40
http://www.gehmann.net/pages/e-productc ... lips&id=34

If ordering from Anschutz you will have to go via their dealer who happens to be in Bombay. His name is Vishwajeet Shinde. Tel. nos. are 23000217 and 9869165683. My friend had to go through him to order his rifle, case and other accessories and found his service wanting.

4) Try Chandrakant Shah in Bombay. 30289897, 30289898 and 9820952111. His prices are usually higher but he wont dick you around. He's a friend of mine. Feel free to take my reference.

Avoid G. Smith. They do not stick to their dates.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link Danish. Will contact G smith in Pune.
Mack The Knife thanks for the links and and the info.
What do you think would be a fair price for a single scoped rifle case in India?
If G Smith has the rifle cases in stock and the price is right maybe I can pick one up the next time I drive through Pune.

I got this single scoped rifle case from US through my relative which costs me only $14. It is very light weighted and has lock system. If some one comming from US then u can request him to bring it. Gsmith will cost you 4000 Rs. and i got it only in 650 Rs. its a big difference. where as the quality of mine one is far much better than gsmith. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog. ... =CROSSSELL

Thanks for the info and pics Danish.Your case looks great.
I agree Rs 4000 is pretty steep considering they cost 15-20 $ abroad.
The size factor is what makes me hesitate when asking friends and relatives returning from abroad to get me one.
The rule of thumb i usually use to calculate a fair price is to double the cost in the US.That usually takes care of duty and carriage costs (if any  )

i recently ordered two from cabelas.com and one is double rifle case and other is single rifle case . i always try to order merchandise from cabelas if to be sent by international surface less than 80 usd and if by air shipment less than 90 usd as the min freigh will be 20 and 40 usd respectively . i bought one for 24 usd and other for 34 usd and adding a shipping charges of 40 usd my whole set will land about less than 4400 inr.

let me recive my merchandise and i will post the pics with guns.

in my opinion the cabelas.com has the widest range of shooting and hunting accessories , but many of then are not permit-able to be sent at international addresses. the local sellers are minting money due to fact that every one do not take risk and study to find out a suitable product.

i just look out for the products which do not carry a extra surcharge due to volume and its a hassle free purchase idea. the quality and the stuff of shooting gear is of no match and you cannot find a matching product in india.
