Chrysler's Ram truck division is taking direct aim at hunters with a unique feature on its new line of Outdoorsman pickup trucks - a gun closet.

Called the The Mopar RamBox Holster, its a rack that can hold two rifles or shotguns inside one of the lockable, watertight compartments located on either side of the pickup bed.

A $205 option - on top of the $1895 price of the RamBox feature itself - the rack can be rotated to hold six fishing poles for those who prefer quieter trips into the great outdoors.

The Outdoorsman starts at $28,350 and includes standard features like scratch-resistant bumpers, puncture-resistant tires, and a towing package. Buyers can order the trimline on most Ram models, including heavy duty and long wheelbase versions.

There are more than enough pickups with gun racks in the US. This would probably be the first concealed carry pickup...

Very nice find M24!

If you want a gun toting truck. Dillon Aero sells a drop in minigun mount to fit their minigun. It should bolt on to any pickup truck.
Can you say "Firepower"?

Unfortunately, for us civilians, we're stuck with the Dodge above.

I like this idea, but actually, it isn't a true substitute for the traditional pickup rifle rack. Those are in the cab and keep the weapon fairly available to anyone in the truck. These would require the driver/passengers to get out after the truck has stopped and open the case.

Regarding your HMvee observation, xl, I'm surprised that nobody has yet offered such an accessory for pickups. Years back, when I lived in Montana, we used to do something like this when hunting for gophers. We found that shooting over the cab of a truck moving across an open park was not the way to hit small gophers, but it did give us that "Hatari" feeling (referring to the old John Wayne movie about collecting animals from Africa for Zoos -- try that movie sometime!).

Below the seat or behind the backrest, Tim??

xl, that is truly some 'firepower'. :)

Deepak, some have gone to behind the seat racks. There are also racks that mount on the roof. but I still see the old style racks in the back window out in the country side.
