You can purchase hollow point bullets to load into casing (i'm not sure if reloading is something you can do in India) from any major reloading supply store in the USA, and if it's legal for us here to mail them to you, I'm sure someone on this board would be happy to help. DELETED-RPM
DO NOT OFFER ILLEGAL IDEAS-APPROPRIATE LEGAL PENALTIES MAY BE ENFORCED
I carry hollow points for defense, the reasons being as follows.
1) when a bullet expands, the diameter of the wound channel increases, and the likelihood of hitting a vital structure (Aorta, Vena Cava, Heart, Spinal Cord, Pulmonary Artery, etc) increases.
2) The bullets I use form sharp petals, or talons, as they expand. These jagged edges are more likely to cut tissue.
3) How much of the mass is retained on expansion is a legitimate concern. Some of the modern hollow points, like the winchester PDX Bonded, have the metal jacket fused to the lead core, so they retain almost 100% of their weight upon expansion. They don't have the petals however, which is a trade-off.
4) The other thing to consider is overpenetration and wounding of bystanders. As mentioned, a high power rifle round can pass through a person or animal and injure someone on the other side. Can pass through a wall, hit your kid who's asleep in his bed if you miss. Some higher power handgun rounds like 9mm, 40s&w, and 45 acp can achieve 18+ inches of penetration. magnum rounds even moreso. Clothing is a concern, but getting through a layer or two of cotton shirts is not a concern. Thick suiting, denim jackets, parkas, sweaters, etc, actually can have an effect on penetration. When I carry my 380acp, which is the smallest defensive handgun i carry, I carry FMJ, because I worry that a 380 would underpenetrate if the assailant were wearing thick clothing.

also here. I've spent many hours reading chuck hawks' stuff, he's pretty smart and provides a good resource.

Re: hollow bullets.
Ok.. I am going to go out on a limb here.
What is a bullet? Essentially a piece of lead.. no different from say a fish line ballast or ballast of any kind. Huge difference between the two.
I am no legal expert, I have no idea around what the laws in India currently are. But I did know a girl who wore a pendant that was an actual 160 grain .30-06 bullet. Specifically from a FA-42 manufactured round, in India. Last I saw her, she still wears it.
I do not advocate breaking laws... bending .. sure.
