Scope mounting problems on BSA 30-06

Post by sport_line_play » Thu Nov 25, 2010 9:29 am

Hi
I've a B.S.A. Majestic Featherweight Deluxe Rifle .30-06 cal, 22" barrel with Factory BSA Efficient Barrel muzzle brake, with folding back sights and weighs around 71/2 lbs, and have recently purchased a Leapers scope from USA. U can check the scope on this link......................
http://www.opticsplanet.net/leapers-5th ... en-il.html
As far as i can say both of us have a similar rifle, so i want to ask you about the mount which you are using with your rifle..........because the mount which i purchased for my rifle comes off after firing a couple of shots.

P.S. you can check the pictures of my rifle on my post

Sport
have split the topic and reposted your problem because its a bit unrelated to navi's post

Leapers-if it suits your purpose, fine.
What scope bases and rings do you have?
FIRST cause -operatoritis. Who mounted the bases and rings?
How do i know-have a double PhD in it

If self done, have you done it before?
was correct technique followed?
please describe in detail :
"...mount which i purchased for my rifle comes off after firing a couple of shots...."

mounts/bases- are those 2 bits of metal, held to the rifle receiver by 2-4 screws.(sometimes a single piece)
Rings-the rings which fit on the mounts and hold scope

brand of mounts?
do mounts go loose, or the rings? does the scope slide back and forth, rotate? do the rings come off the mounts ,or what
Pics would help
help us help you-post pics and details

There are quite a bit options - ones I selected were

http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-rif ... rings.html Low rings are fine

http://www.opticsplanet.com/s/UY-MT-WAB ... +Base+Set/
Warne Matte Base Set For Remington 700 M902876M
Warne BSA Monarch 2 Pc Steel Scope Mount Base are made by the same process as the Premier Bases but have the Weaver dimensions profile. They provide a strong alternative to aluminum and are attached

Cabelas also has two piece and single piece mounts

http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product. ... %3Dproduct

Good luck

WTP
Burris zee what kind of mount would they require? I need to return or exchange something

Another correction
By the way the dont buy the LU-MT-RING-RF-57339 specified above lowrings they are too low rather go for
LU-MT-RING-RF-57380 ( Black) or 57385 Silver

best

Weaver type bases. The same as the one that you ordered.

From the site
Burris Signature 1" Zee Ring Pairs fit Weaver-style bases.
The advantage that the Burris signature rings offer is the inserts that compensate for things being slightly askew not to mention the fact that there would be no ring marks on the scope.

No you were dead on .. but when one has invested close to 25% on accessories something is off - then nobody said its easy -- you were right about scope etc I have to order these ...round and round we go..

Now if there was another decent gun smith in my old state it would make it that much easier .right. :?:

Best

You'd buy another scope, and charge it up to experience. Don't think the manufacturer would replace it for you.

You will need the Parker-Hale RALS3 1" rings for your rifle, those are the only rings that will fit. They have a recoil stud that locates into the rails machined onto your B.S.A's receiver, got those for a friend's Majestic '06 a few months ago. Will try to locate a set if you'd like

Cheers!

Not all of the BSAs have that dovetail, the later ones don't.

Andy, I'm sure they will, for a fee, if you have an address to ship to. They may even take pity upon you, and just replace it. Some companies are very good about that, others not so. Good luck!
