[Help] Questions

Post by sasank » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:52 pm

Hi Everyone,

Well i am a new member and obviously no one likes to answer the noob's question but i have a query which is a bit urgent. So please be kind to answer it.

Question- A friend of my lives in States and he owns a gun shop.He is pretty much interested in buying ammo from India (importing it).So please can you tell me is there a possibility of it ? and if yes what are the formalities ? Can i go and contact the Gun shop in Chennai for further help or i will have to seek Government offices for it ?

Thanks All.Eagerly Waiting for the reply. :)

Sasank.

I am also surprised why someone wants to import ammunition made in India. I think his idea may change if he reads the following: http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 15#p107564

That's not fair, don't think we mind reasonable queries. Were you actually going to ask our advice on choosing a high powered ultra cheap long range airgun and it's shipping to India

No ammunition of "popular & current bore" (or something like that) may be exported ! You will have to check with a dealer in India who has an ammunition export license!

Actually a fair amount of .308 Ammo does get exported from India, this is mainly the 'War Stock' the Army is replacing and lots of ammo rejected for QC issues by the MoD.

You do need things like end user certificates etc, and generally a small transaction would be about a million rounds. This is then re-sold as milsurp ammo in the West, and not surprisingly enjoys a reputation for being inconsistent and dirty. However it is very cheap, and the brass wierdly enough is boxer primed so reloadable. A lot of people buy the ammo for the brass, dump the bullets, powder and primer and use the brass for reloading.

The process if fairly convuluted, but with determination can be done and buying prices can be as low as 5-7 cents a round, with a resale price of 10-15 cents a round. Which gives the importer a nice margin. The laws of civlian market prices do not apply.

You can do the same with the Ishapores, and I believe even the SLR's now. YMMW.
