AND sold on the surplus market?
Yes it is a fact, this is what happens when it is a market monopoly of one company and no competition. And corrupt morons are the political leaders and bureaucrats.
Around the same time period as the article (Late 80's-early 90's) the UK MOD actually ordered a huge batch (millions) of 9mmx19mm ammo from IOFB for the British military.... after a consistent series of misfires the whole batch was scrapped for less than $100...! That was about the end of it.
yap 9mm for the brits, i was there when none fired. so off to the sea they went to feed the fish, since then no cheap imports by the brits from India, textile yes ammo no.

Regarding the OFB 9mm copy of the browning, Last year (or was it the year before??) I had the opportunity to field test a brand new "out of the box, opened right infront of me" batch of 6 OFB 9mm's received by the Mizoram Armed Police (MAP) out of which 2 malfunctioned outright after the first round. Moreover 4 out of 6 i.e. = 66% had problems with their foresight which were loose and on the verge of falling off!! If this is the same kind of weapon that is being issued to our fighting force in the field, the OFB should be brought to book!!
Best of luck with your trials and tribulations with the OFB 9mm!

Any Idea why it was rejected? It's turning up here in the US.
No idea, probably the batch was rejected by Army or the shelf life was over.

just my .02. u have been given sane advise by the senior forum members and it would be best to go with what MoA said. i had used some 7.62 x 54 r ammo head stamped 1980 and had a few cases burst. so i f u can afford it and like your face and hand's (already confirmed) desist from firing this ammo.

"Roger that", sir, have already decided to pull all the bullets, dump the powder and possibly re-use the brass.
Another life lesson learned.............Damn, I'm 63. When do I have to stop going to school?
