Is there any License required for keeping swords ??? I've heard that anything with more than 8 inches of blade size requires License ...

So experts please throw some light on this too ...

First its 6 inch not 8, and 2 inch wide.

About license I had tried fromlocal SHO to Tahasildar to DM and they were surprized like I asked for their eyes.

It seems that sword and knife license is not in practice thus most of them have not given.

Hi Hemendra,

It's 9 inches long or 2 inches wide and not what you have posted. You can get a license, but like a gun license, you need to explain the reason. Collecting swords doesn't seem to be a reason accepted by the LA. If it is there in your religion like it is there for the sikhs, then it wouldn't be a problem.

So, bottom line, stick to knives.

just to let you know-i had a friend who once imported a sword replica.blade wasnt sharp.
it was kept at the mumbai customs for 2 years.
forget keeping a sword/
