Hey guys, wassup ?? First of all why is this section so quite ?? I mean there are a lot of knife people in India. So why aren't they making more posts ??

Anyway what I'm talking about in this is post is the Cold Steel Warhead. It's an amazing Daggar. Broad blade like nothing I've seen. It's a 1055 carbon. Pretty good for rust resistance. Specially in climates like ours. And it's under the restriction limit. As I learned from IFG. And it's cheap. The Cold Steel website says it's $20.

Here's an imageImage

And the specifications :
Overall: 14"
Thick: 4mm
Weight: 10.9 oz.
Steel: 1055 Carbon
Blade: 8 1/2"
Sheath: Cordura

Unfortunately I was unable to locate it at 20north. Anyone has any info on how to get my hands on it, let me know !

Nice Blade. You may face some problem in importing it as the blade itself is 8 1/2" inches long, customs may or may not clear it. You may try ebay.com if you're insisting on importing it.

You sure about that ?? I am asking out of sheer ignorance. Cause I have never imported a blade like that before. But while surfing the 20north I did spot something much much larger. I mean several machetes are a lot bigger blades. And they are being sold ! So, I really don't get this whole thing. Can anyone one enlighten me ?

And last time we had a discussion about blade size, it was 9" or more that was under the restriction right ? And this one's 1/2" short ! And they might stop this too ?? What do they want really, we buying paper cutters ??

That's exactly what they want. I doubt whether they'll make the difference between 8 1/2" and 9". As for 20north, well, that's an equal risk because you'll find lot of members here, who've ordered through 20north and are still waiting and waiting for their stuff. Your call, mate.

Zake, It's better to get such items in personal checked in baggage. It's 20/80 chance otherwise. Generally custom officers are looking out for juicier stuff in your baggage for what ever reasons. After all, there are quite a few kitchen knives that are as big or bigger. I have succeeded in getting through with such items. done it twice so far. As for possession, it's okay if kept at home or carry such stuff while Hiking, Camping etc. out of city limits. Avoid reserved forests and National parks though. But....Do not ever carry it on your person within the city unless you are looking out for free meals and shelter for a couple of months/years depending on the lanldlord, in this case, the Judge.

BTW, one is not supposed to/allowed to carry a knife that has more then 3.5" blade on one's person within city limit in India. Anything bigger is considered a threat to the population. And I think it is a fair rule since a Pocket Knife, a smart folder, a Swiss Knife or a Multi Tool is pretty much within these parameters.

But dude, one can hardly expect to protect him/herself with a 3.5" blade unless got some skills with the blade.Even if that is the case say you have a Karambit style knife like Subal carries and you are faced with a bad guy. The intimidation factor is gone. I mean if you can pull a blade like Warhead then the guy will think hard before staying on you. But if you have a knife with 3.5" inch blade, there is no intimidation.
And worse of all since a small blade like that it unable to cause big enough injury to scare the guy off, you might have to think about lethal strikes, if it comes to saving you life ! I don't see how this is a good thing.

This makes me think that we all are saying allow guns in India. And lift the blanket ban. We also should be saying something about knives. I mean whole rule is ridiculous. I mean I have to be a part of some religion so they will allow me to carry/buy knives ?? How medieval is that ?

Smaller blades becoming increasing more popular. Longer blade always give to your opponent longer arm to use it for disarm. Once your knife turned against you, you gonna drop it.

When you poke with 3.5" blade from front you can reach spinal cord easily, unless it is a 300lb individual.

I would subscribe to that 3.5" limit.

Something is better than nothing, thanks atleast 3.5" blade is allowed, oh yes, the skill becomes more important in situation like SD when we are armed with either mouse gun (.32) or mouse knife.

A cold steel machetes is a very good weapon for cutting through rainforest undergrowth and for agricultural purposes.
