JAPANESE SWORD

I am glad to share with the IFG folk some photos of a sword I possess, presented to me by a brother cousin of my mother about 50 years ago. He didn’t tell me anything about it, and for a longtime I believed it was a French sword.
Few years ago a consulted with experts (an auction house) and very kindly (and free of charge) they informed me that it was a Japanese sword, designed after the patterns of the French.
The chrysanthemum on the grip is a clear sign of the Japanese origin.
I found on Wikipedia that this sword, named “Kyu Gunto” (old sword) in Japanese was in service for quite a long time (1874-1937), and that it was replaced by a sword, more close to the traditional Japanese pattern.
I am wondering whether someone owns or has ever seen such a sword.
Regards to all of you
