Hi All,
Just completed this largish dagger, based on the Scottish/Gaelic Dirk. Overall length is 15.5 inches with a 10 inch blade made out of a D2 steel file. Bolster is soft steel and the grip is teak wood. Havent taken off the file serrations completely leaving a checkered pattern on the spine.
Do have a look!

Very innovative idea of using the file. Beautifully done. How do you stick the bolster to the blade??

Atul ji, the bolster has a slit cut in the middle through which the tang of the blade is inserted.

Beautiful knife AD! Liked the way you have maintained the file pattern in the center of the blade.

How do you cut the slit and do you weld it or something on the tang??

Now get photo'ed in a kilt and bonnet, with bagpipes and this dirk in your belt alongwith your sporran!

You just need to make yourself a Claymore to complete the look!

drill a couple of (or more) holes through the bolster and enlarge them to fit the blades width. Its not welded. If cut right, the bolster would fit snugly on the blade, and the handle would support and fix it in place. You can also use epoxy in case the bolster is loose.
