Hi,
I want to import 10 Throwing Stars of 4 inch diameter probably from U.S.A or U.K. to India. I am planning to get it from a website which provides international delivery like
http://www.bladeplay.com/cat--Throwing- ... r_page=100 . I had read in one the forum topics that any edged weapon beyond 9 inch length and 2 inch width needs a license and cannot be easily imported;
http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=16506
Weapon Details:
Name: Throwing Stars (Shuriken)
Quantity: 10
Size: 4 inch diameter
Purpose: Gift, Collection and Display
Import from: U.S.A or U.K.
Import to: Mumbai, India
I have the following doubts to be clarified:
1. Will the delivery of these throwing stars would be a problem in India?
2. Would they classify as illegal edged weapons? If yes, then which law am I gonna break?
3. Is there a way out?
4. Would I require a license? If so, from whom?
5. What sort of unforeseen problems can customs create and how do I handle it?
I would be thankful if you could provide me your expertise. I have to gift these items and I have limited days. Hope I could get a quick response.
Thanks & Regards,
Harshit

Hi,
The one shown in
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Best-sel ... 89407.html seems more like toy without the sharp edges. The other one is good but seems really expensive. But you think customs will not categorize them as weapons?

The aliexpress one seems to have false edges. And the olx one is expensive... But wouldnt the custom confiscate the item considering it is a weapon? As it is going to come through courier.

why not make your own? go to steel febs shop and cut and sharpen the points easy then giving duty money to customs.

Hi,
Throwing stars can be illegal in UK but I need to know if importing it to India is illegal or not? I do not mind paying custom duty for it. I need to know if I am not breaking any law by importing it. I am not interested in making one of my own. I also wanted to know which shipping service is the most reliable if the import is from U.S.A.

Harshit

I made about 10 out of thick GI (galvanized iron) sheet when I was in high school, thanks to a local grill maker. My neighbour's trees paid a heavy price till my dad seized them
