Website to track Registered International Mails

Hello,
I have been purchasing stuff via eBay and Forums from international sellers who sends items via their country's post offices. In my search for a tracking option, I've stumbled upon this website.
www.trackitonline.ru/
If the seller sends the item using their country's postal service (like our India Post) and if the mail/package is registered (The tracking number will start with "R" and end with originating country's two letter code (US - America, GB - England etc), you can paste the tracking number in the above website's search option.
No need to give any other options other than captcha code. The website auto-detects the source and destination countries from the code and shows the status from both postal departments' websites. It appears that all countries follow a similar pattern of tracking code for registered international mails.
Hope it is useful.
Regards,
Abhiram

Anything ending with .ru is risky business - lot of malware is served from Russian domains (as well as p0rn).
Having said that, you don't have to go outside India to track registered packages... Our post allows tracking...
http://ipsweb.ptcmysore.gov.in/ipswebtracking/ - if the article is inbound for India, it can be tracked here.

Thank you so much Amar. Yes, 'RU' does ring alarm bells
though I must admit Abhiram's link is quite versatile and works worldwide.
But your link should be the best for IFGians. It provided me with the same results minus the micro links and pop ups in the RU domain

Hello TC,
After the item leaves customs, the item will be trackable till local post office using India Post link below:
http://www.indiapost.gov.in/tracking.aspx
After entering tracking number and clicking go, a new window opens.
You need to click the "details" link to get the current status; as the first windows shows "not available" till the item is delivered.

Lately, there is a new practice.
My package from HK was tracked with the original tracking data till nearest airmail sorting center only, & thereafter no tracking on India Post as well as ipstrack. But item reached me in another 5 days w/o even a single entry in tracking table anywhere.
On delivery, the outer cover had another sticker on it with a fully India Post tracking number.
On trying that no: in IP tracking, full details from nearest airmail sorting center to my local PO was available.
ie, if this is going to be the norm, original tracking data is useless after nearest air parcel hub. & that can be scary at times.

Hello estousandy,
Assuming that your package was registered and tracking code starts with "R", did you try clicking the "Details" link in the results page of below website?
http://www.indiapost.gov.in/tracking.aspx
I tried two days before for a package from London and it still works till the local post office (I have a Bangalore address, hence not sure if other regions also scan the international code).
The status after package left Delhi Foreign PO was as follows for my package:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25/05/2014 04:40:37 BANGALORE CITY RMS (CRC) Article Bagged to WHITEFIELD
25/05/2014 05:18:04 BANGALORE CITY RMS (CRC) Bag Despatched to WHITEFIELD
26/05/2014 10:03:50 WHITEFIELD Bag is Received
26/05/2014 10:08:36 WHITEFIELD Bag is Opened
26/05/2014 17:06:29 WHITEFIELD Article Delivered
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abhiram, It used to work for me this way so far. One single tracking number(RQXXXXXXXSG) can be used to track from origin to delivery. In the new system, there are two tracking numbers & we will know only one. ie, the 2nd tracking no: will be known only upon delivery of the package.
Original: RQXXXXXXXSG - Tracked from origin to nearest airport airmail hub, was not trackable on
http://www.indiapost.gov.in/tracking.aspx but working on ipstrack.ptcmysore
Second: RLXXXXXXXIN - Tracked from airmail hub to delivery, number stuck on the parcel at the hub, was trackable in the above first link.
Both these numbers are there on the same package, & there is no easy way to obtain this second no: till delivery. I've never seen this practice before.
Also, all the tracking sites out there (.ru, .net..) quote data from official postal sites only, with popups extra!

Thanks again Abhiram,
This is the link I had been using to track my packages. But as far as foreign registered post goes, this link works only with UK's Royal Mail which is linked to India Post (thanks to 200 years of slavery

) and gives out exact locations from day one till delivery. It does not work for packages sent from the US or other countries of Europe. I just tried tracking the parcel from Germany using
http://www.indiapost.gov.in/tracking.aspx. But it just says no information is available. Not even the second window and "details".
This link, I guess is not updated or, is for use only for mail posted inside India.
On the other hand, your Russian link and the link sent by Choombak is showing every detail. My packet from Germany was handed over to the Customs in Kolkata on May 24. It was the weekend. Hopefully I will get it in a day or two or a week maybe. Two weeks ago the Kolkata Customs delayed a box form London by almost 10 days. They opened it and resealed it after attaching the typical black and white inspection card.

Estousandy,
What you said about a second tracking no is new to me. Sounds very scary.
The second number will surely never be known to either the sender or the recipient. So whats the point in generating a second tracking number and for whose benefit ?
Is it possible that the package you mention contained something that the Customs initially kept in its custody for close inspection and released much later with a second tracking no i.e. as a fresh post ? I am just guessing.

TC, as per ipstrack, the package never went into customs. It touched chennai & cochin airmail centers with "item received" status, without any "send to customs" at all. It wasn't opened too, eventhough it had gun mounts.

Airmail centres have inhouse customs, and it need not be reflected in the tracking. Anything inbound from foreign country MUST go through customs.

Amar do you have any clue about the second tracking number Estousandy is talking about ? This is new to me.
BTW, your link worked great. The package came home yesterday

The last update - that the mail has been delivered on May 29 by the local post office - is not showing till this morning. But I guess after the recipient has signed and taken the package our postal boys get reluctant to tap the keyboard.

A decent parcel tracking website is
http://www.17track.net/en/result/post.shtml
I've used it in the past to track SingPost parcels and it seemed to be ahead of SingPost's own website as far as promptness of updates & details were concerned.
HTH
Cheers!
