I've got this Gerber Gator Bolo machete from outdoortravelgear.com a few months back. The unit is well balanced & can stand up to some real play. I have tried till 5" hardwood & it worked flawlessly.
It's full tang & works the way it should. It's also half-axe half-machete & has a comparatively thicker blade.
It's not very sharp outta the box & putting an edge by file can be pretty tiring. Steel is good but will rust if neglected. Mine got some discoloration from residual moisture i failed to remove after first use. Now it's always kept oiled & rust is all but gone.
Handle is grippy enough with its curved end hooking onto palm even if held lightly. This along with the hefty blade gives great leverage. It's a mass produced machete made in china but it works.
Specs:
Overall Length: 22.5“ (57.2cm)
Blade Length: 15.5“ (39.4cm)
Weight: 20.8 oz. (589.7g) without Sheath 25.6 oz (725.7g) with Sheath
Steel Type: 1050 Carbon Steel
Handle Material: Gator® grip
