Hi IFG,
i am from north india.
I am looking for ways to sharpen my swords and daggers.
the best thing came up was whetstones.
i am thinking of ordering 1000/6000/8000/10000 grit stones
but they are not available on ebay.in .
if i order from amazon or global ebay
it around 5000 each stone.
are there any indian online sites offering japanese whetstone for less then that?
Thanks in advance

Try Amazon.in. Cost will be similar. Or, depending on where you are, you will almost certainly have a local market where such things will be available. Might need to walk quite a bit looking for them, though! Try asking local cobblers, butchers, and suchlike for information.

Ask around hardware shops, they stock sharpening stones of different grits (local made may not have grits written but you can feel).

Indian whet stones are much better than 'foreign' stones.. Grindwell Norton is one brand that comes to mind!

There are some silicon carbide sharpening stones available in local hardware stores. Normally used by carpenters they will call it as oil stones.
Ask for "CUMI sharpening stone" and it will cost you INR 60 to 70.
