I picked up these two knives- a khukuri and a sirupati during my visit to Kathmandu last week. The first knife in the photo is a Angkola khukuri and the second a sirupati. Each of these comes with a karda- a small knife and a chakmak to sharpen(or is it hone?) the knife.

So you were in Nepal
No no no.That was ages ago.As a result of tectonic plate movement, the Himalyas moved up and the Kathmandu valley was lifted and tilted towards one side.Kathmandu then slipped down and now lies next to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh,India.

Nope.I crossed Nepal border by road.Generally the airport authorities don't bother you if you have one or two khukuris and tell them they're souvenirs.I did travel from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur(in Nepal) by air with the khukuris in my check in baggage and had no problems at all.

btw, I picked it from Thamel as you'd told me to.
