Hello guys, I won't say I am new to this forum but I post rarely. I have read many topics regarding buying a knife. I want to buy my first knife and I want it to be Cold Steel. Pls suggest me some stores in and around Mumbai. I can't buy online as I don't have a credit card. So can anyone give me some tips to buy a knife. I have read many posts by Moin, his advice is very much appreciated. Thank You

You can buy from Olive Planet, they have Cash on Delivery Options, payment through NEFT, DD etc if you don't use a credit card.

Hi, first post.

I'm from Mumbai and would like to buy a Spyderco Military.

I've called Bansons and every other shop I could find in the Yellow Page listings online but nobody has any Spyderco knives. I tried a guy in Heera Panna but he has just one older model (Atlantic Salt). Found some old listings for Spyderco Persistence on HomeShop18 - I was willing to buy the smaller knife but even those are sold out.

I'd like to buy from knifecenter or any reliable online site but am worried about customs. Will it be a problem if I import directly? What's the best way to get this done in India for someone who doesn't have any friends/relatives abroad? Thanks.

Update: I went ahead and bought the Spyderco Persistence from knifecenter - don't expect the small blade to have any issues with customs. Ended up paying a ridiculous amount compared to what someone in the US would pay after customs duty and DHL express charges - totally unfair to charge these ridiculous duties. Just another excuse to milk the public, I guess. Also picked up the Spyderco Sharpmaker, it's overkill for just one knife but I'll use it on kitchen knives too - hope nobody ends up going to the ER.

Point of note: When I was paying at knifecenter the amounts they calculated ended up being way higher (like over a thousand rupee difference, IIRC) than what I actually ended up paying via Paypal. Not sure if I would have paid the higher amounts had I used my credit card directly.

My question still stands re. 4" blades - do customs ppl. cause an issue over them these days?

Sorry gents, have never ordered through knife centre so no idea. Folders generally do not pose a problem in custom clearance.

Thanks Moin, that's good to know. I was initially a bit bummed out at settling for the tamer knife but I expect I'll end up using it a lot more than a Military. Currently obsessed with the Spyderco Paramilitary, may go for it down the line if I can think up a valid excuse for having a bigger blade, other than it just being drop-dead gorgeous, of course.

Any other reputed online stores that people have bought from successfully? Would like to do a bit more thorough price comparison in the future.
