There are a few documentaries and short films about Japanese swords on Youtube .... of varying quality and accuracy - avoid the American ones because they tend to be total sh*te.
Some of the inscriptions can be quite gruesome on the old swords - eg, `First test on one body`. `Second test on two bodies`.

Freaking amazin'! What a lovely blade, and 700 yrs old? Dude! Those Japanese surely know the art of sword making.
