Y.A.K.

Post by marthandan » Tue May 14, 2013 8:56 am

the Y.A.K. (yet another kiridashi or yet another keychain) is an evolution (version IV) of the kiridashi that i made with a bottle opener.
at last count, the YAK has the following implewments,m
1. 30mm blade / box cutter
2. flat screwdriver - large (also moonlights as a pry bar)
3. flat screwdriver - small (that small thingy at the point)
4. bottle opener
5. can opener
and, 6. a key chain

i know, i know...its sounds very gimmicky. it does do all the functions satisfactorily.

i am a bit stuck as far as the sheath is concerned. leather would be too thick. kydex seems perfect, but the minimum volume of kydex that needs to be purchased (in India) will last me for a couple of lifetimes. looking at alternatives. suggestions are welcome.

version II & IV

version IV. needs to be finished and sheathed. plan to etch it in FC

Another amazing creation, Martha.
Great stuff!

Good show, brother!!

You can try thin leather (old wallet, ladies' handbag) for the sheath. Or canvas with thick stitching and leather piping at the edges. Remember those old "holdalls" people used while travelling? Denim might also work. Or molded plastic.

By the way, what was the raw material?
Cheers!

Great work & very innovative Marty :D
Any old discarded leather wallet or lady's handbag would provide the leather for the sheath :D
