i checked at cabellas, wallmart, basspro and none of them are ready to sell a disassembled compound bow.
do any of you gurus know of any shop/store in virginia which sells compound bows in a disassembled form.

It will be difficult. I suspect the best way would be to purchase one from an archery store and have them mark it and disassemble it, or if you have a local archery shop just have your friend take it apart (simple to do, only a couple of bolts) and then bundle it all together and wrap it with plastic wrap- nothing fancy just plain kitchen wrap- and have your local person put it back together. For optimum performance, the bow should really be tuned to the individual shooter anyway so this is not such a big deal. If you are mechanical, have your friend mark the positions of the cam wheels with a permanent marker and then you can fiddle with it when putting it back together and get the cams oriented properly and that should be pretty close.
