BRIHA’S BLADES - PART 2

Hi Guys,
At the outset I must confess that excepting the two MUELAS…
1.MUELA D16 – Military Commando, 7” blade with DELRIN handle (Modified Bowie)
2.MUELA KIRPAN - 5” blade with polymer handle…..
The other blades acquired by me over the past couple of decades do not lay claim to any well known brand.
Nevertheless they came at an affordable price, combined with rudimentary aesthetics in design, ergonomics & functionality. I’ve taken them with me on several field trips and they have served me well.
I’ve fond memories of acquiring these during my far-east trips, looking out for shops in the back lanes of bustling cities of Manila, Bangkok & Hong Kong that sell knives and driving hard bargains with those crafty shop owners speaking Pidgin English!
BTW – While my interest & fascination with blades is racing at a trotting pace – I have all admiration for the collection & knowledge of my fellow IFGians – MACK, MOIN, SLINGSHOT, BRUNO, MARTHANDAN ET AL…. MY HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS!

The Balisong....is just gorgeous. And I can see what you meant when you described the Buck to me. I also have a similar Muela, but its the Meula Military Tactical. It has a kraton handle but very similar in profile.

I am impressed. Seems you and I share the same passion of hunting for knives during trips to faraway lands... still cherish fond memories of those shops in Manila and the Jeepney rides ... However trying to imagine you opening those switch blades to fend off a kid who thinks he can mug an "apparently" old fella...and ends up sweating in his pants

Briaji,

That's not shabby at all. The Balisong and the Muelas apart, the Opinel is a very well regarded knife in France among the outdoorsmen. In fact if you turn-up at many camps without one for general work, your credentials in the wilds get seriously questioned.

I had a good chuckle at the thought of you saying to a mugger; "That's not a Knoife. This is a Knoife".

That is not a switchblade, Akshat. That is a butterfly knife or Balisong.
Someone else can answer about the legality of that style of knife.

i meant the first "switchblade" thats listed on tht pic...
i.e. the 5th knife in tht pic....
