Ebay Vs Knifecenter Vs.....???

Dear IFG members,

From my recent experiences I found that I could buy two amazing knives from ebay and well within 2 weeks. While on the other hand many senior members of IFG say or recommend Knifecenter is the way to go. So the topic has to be discussed.... which is better or some other site bests them both?

MATCH ON!

On ebay, just make sure you search using "price + shipping - highest first" or "lowest first" option. In this case, they group all the "shipping not specified" options together. Ignore them - they won't ship to India. No experience with KC, but senior members seem to have excellent experiences. Of course, in both cases, any Customs issues will be your headache!

Amazon, although having an excellent selection (you need to search diligently) are very very restrictive on shipping to India. For some reason, they don't even ship rechargeable batteries!!

Ebay is really dependant on the seller rather than Ebay as a whole. I cant say for knifecenter but I can vouch for knifeworks.com . They have have very good stock and are very pleasant to deal with. Recently they added the option of shipping via DHL rather than USPS. This is only slightly more expensive but is VERY quick delivery. I placed an order on Tuesday and got delivery by Friday afternoon of the same week.

Apply the basic rules:-
On ebay find trusted suppliers willing to ship india and match the entire cost with knifecenter's total cost for the same product i don't think you need to be told the rest.

Happy Shopping
(BTW the knifecenter.com site is easy to use they also ship fedex which has an excllent parcel clearance record)

And also pass along the huge FedEx savings to buyer - FedEx charges $110 minimum shipping a blade to India if you approach them as an individual. With kc these are reduced to around $30 or so. Customs clearance is faster as FedEx has customs people in their airport warehouse, with eBay/USPS, your package is handed over to Indian post and good luck with that. It's not about price, it's about the guarantee that FedEx carries for delivery. Their tracking is real time as well.

So far knifecenter seems to be winning. One for knifeworks too. Though recently I've heard knifecenter asks for wire transfer when you opt for credit card. Don't know about knifecenter too much but I'm going to purchase the previous gil hibben pro throwers which couldn't pass through amazon. Anyway.... Continue.

@Knifejunkie

Did you have any other problems after that incident you told me. I did manage to get a letter with authorized stamp and signature by ADC. But the fear was that they may ship it back without even notifying me. It happened with my purchase on amazon. They didn't even inform me that the customs have rejected to let it in. I got ti know about it when I asked the seller about the package.

Quite frankly i can't believe they didn't inform you regarding your shipment, what shipper did you choose and frankly i think thats illegal too. you must have not given correct contact number or so,and they could have tagged you unresponsive etc.
Congrats on getting the noc you must have some friends at higher places otherwise these babu's i tell u can be a pain to deal with.
Don't worry order anything with edge less than 9 inch and width less than 2 inch and supply documents as asked there won't be any problem.

Best junkie

Ha ha!!!

You caught me knifejunkie.
LOL
Anyway, my maternal grandpa knew the ADC of Rohtak so it worked out well. He laughed at first for seeing me in such situation. I did gave them the right address & phone number. The seller was stealth rabbit on amazon.com

Well if it works out then I'll be getting the same throwing knives from knifecenter.

Tanto is a big PITA to sharpen, especially at the junction of the edge... You mostly end up messing that up and making it round...
