bro the advantage using leaf spring is ..i dont need special stone to sharpen ..just rub on the red stone thats it ! this is a maintenance free knife ..utility is maximum

neat, see the point of spring steel, less work. still if one can one should also try other steels to improve one skills. As every one i know uses spring steel, its has it points but i always try to look for something different but thats myslf only. done a good job with the shape.

did the blacksmith HT it properly? all the blacksmiths i have met here in tamil nadu and karnataka just seem to heat it to red hot and dunk it in water. it was the same case with the nomadic blacksmith families from rajasthan doing the rounds in tamil nadu. i am pretty convinced that all the stuff made by most of the local blacksmiths have no HT. would love to be proved wrong.

Nice chopper, Kalashnikovcult

You guys are lucky to have a smith who at least agrees to forge something. Here in Mumbai, the legitimate smiths just don't agree - it seems the cops collect records from them!!
