its just a letter opener, but a very sharp one at that  its to be gifted.

not sure about the thread pattern on the sheath...what do you guys think?...too over the top?...am i better off with the simple border stitch as on the handle...or would that be too usual?

Considering that it's going to be a gift, I am afraid it depends on the Taste of the recipient. Moreover, we all have our own obsessions when it comes to cosmetic beauty!! :)
Since it's going to be gift, I would say a creative pattern on the sheath would do no harm. But, do not overdo it. Also, it looks like you are using a green thread. I think an OD one will provide better contrast.

Nice work by the way. On the blade and the sheath too.

DevilMan, You've been busy in your junkyard :) :)

Like Mack said, keep it minimal. You'll never get the machine like unformity in the stitching unless you are an expert in this and might end up looking shabby.

Awesome job btw.......

Best
Moin.

If its a black sheath, make it just border stitching with a crimson thread.
And maybe, at rhe top of the sheath, on both the sides,, the initials of the recepient in crimson too. Small and unobtrusive.

thank you all. if it had been for me, i would have used brown thread.green is definitely too shiny

the green is for a reason. the person i am gifting this to, runs greenpeace constructions ltd (no affiliation to Greenpeace, the NGO ). his office has a green theme. he likes green.

suraj...the second best to this, http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com.au/e ... 91-00.aspx, is marking holes by hand.
